To slash and yaoi folk: How has Hurricane Ike affected you?

I'm working on a story for my Hurricanes Gustav and Ike Report at True Tales about how Hurricane Ike has affected the slash and yaoi communities. Anyone here want to contribute their anecdotes, for the record?

WHY I NEVER WANT TO COVER NEWS IN THE SLASH COMMUNITY

Covering news for the leather community is bad enough. There is only one - read that, one - leather news print publication. I have the only leather news online publication. Various regional and club newsletters will occasionally carry news about current events, but not often. There are also quite a few leather columnists, but they're all regional-based.

So I have to start from the ground up by writing to individuals, groups, businesses, asking what has happened to them.

Covering slash is far worse.

At least the manga/anime world has a few news sites. The fan fiction world doesn't. And there is no central place to get online information on what's taking place in slashdom. Three-quarters of slashdom could get wiped out in a disaster, and the only thing that would happen would be people plaintively asking on their fandom's LJ, "Why hasn't greatslashwriter posted the third installment of her story?"

Gradually, of course, [info]metafandom and [info]meta_roundup would put together the pieces of what's taking place in various parts of the fan fiction world. Still, I wish that some journalists existed who regularly covered fanfic-related news.

In lieu of such journalists, I'm hoping that some of you will tell me about your experiences with Hurricane Ike (for the record, so I can publish it in my article).
