Seeking beta readers (volunteer copy editors)
I'm in need of additional beta readers (i.e. volunteer copy editors) to offer editing suggestions on my stories for continuity (did I contradict myself?), comprehension (what the heck was I trying to say?), style (does the sentence read smoothly?), description (did I leave description out where it would be appropriate to include it?), and grammar. If you can help with any other editing matters, that's great, but those are the five areas where I need the most help.
If you think you might be able to help with any of these areas, let me know which of my genres or series you'd be interested in betaing.
A reasonably quick turn-around time is helpful. I don't expect anybody to beta one of my novels overnight, but I'd rather not have to prod beta readers three months after I've sent them a short story.
On the other hand, if you don't have the time or interest to read a particular story when I approach you, or if you find that a particular story you're betaing is making you fall asleep, I won't be offended if you decline to beta that story. I also understand that real-life crises sometimes cause beta-report deadlines to slip. I use multiple beta readers for a reason.
So I'm seeking a reasonable amount of reliability, but I don't expect miracles. I can't offer anything in compensation for your help except a sneak preview of my stories, a chance to help shape those stories, and, of course, due credit.
