Prompt fest 2014

It's that time of the year again. As M. Chandler nicely summarized it: "Leave a comment on this entry with a prompt for a . . . story that you'd like to see: a character or two, or maybe a basic situation, or an event from one of the books that I glossed over, whatever floats your boat."

Here's an example of a prompt: In 2010, Shadows on the Sun asked, "How about some hurt/comfort in the Life Prison series? Some kind of interaction between a guard and a prisoner. With a happy ending! If that's at all possible in that 'verse. . . ."

And here's the story I wrote.

Prompts for any of the following series may be posted until the end of the month.

The Eternal Dungeon.
Life Prison.
Commando.
Michael's House.
The Three Lands.
Princeling.
Loren's Lashes.

Waterman is off the list this year because it was last year's holiday gift fic.

I'll post the resulting holiday gift fic around January 1st.

Prompt fest 2013

It's that time of the year again. As M. Chandler nicely summarized it: "Leave a comment on this entry with a prompt for a . . . short story that you'd like to see: a character or two, or maybe a basic situation, or an event from one of the books that I glossed over, whatever floats your boat. Please don't be too specific--I need room to thrash!"

(If you're not clear on what a prompt is, look at these prompts from 2009, which resulted in this story.)

Prompts for any of the following series may be posted, within the next two weeks.

Life Prison.
Commando.
Michael's House.
Waterman.
The Three Lands.
Princeling.
Loren's Lashes.

(The Eternal Dungeon isn't eligible this year, because it was selected for last year's prompt fest.)

I'll post the resulting holiday gift fic towards the end of this year.

Prompt fest 2011

It's that time of the year again. Yes, I know I'm early this year, but I want to work on the story while I'm composing my other stories this spring.

Prompts for any of the following series may be posted, within the next two weeks. (I mean it this time about the deadline. I won't even peek at your responses till then.)

The Three Lands.
The Eternal Dungeon.
Michael's House.
Waterman.
Leather in Lawnville.
Loren's Lashes.

Life Prison is off the list this year because it was last year's holiday gift fic.

I'll post the resulting holiday gift fic towards the end of this year.

It's that time of the year again.

The Eternal Dungeon is off the list this year because it was last year's holiday gift fic. (I know that you guys would nominate it every year if you could.)

I'll post the resulting holiday gift fic towards the end of this year.

Prompt fest, part two

Okay, so you guys want . . .

Spoilers for 'Rebirth' under the cut )

Sheesh. I guess this is why they call it "challenge fic."

I actually offer all of the above in the post-Rebirth stories . . . just not in a single story. My Muse is now grilling me on whether I made a mistake in my original post and asked for novel prompts. But he's amused enough by the list of requested ingredients that he has promised to think about it this week.

(And he wants me to look up the ingredients of Bacardi. Darn you, [info - personal] telepwen.)

Seven hours later: Wow, that was quick. My Muse gave me the story overnight . . . with all of the requested ingredients except for "to the other." Now comes the hard part: typing it up. I'll hand it over to you guys when it's ready.

Rose Red, even though your prompt is utterly delicious, my Muse is being stubborn about your request, because "Twenty Thousand Gold Stars" was meant as a single-shot, and my Muse isn't good at writing sequels to single-shots. As far as he's concerned, the characters of single-shots cease to exist the moment he finishes with them. (They go off to live in heaven or hell or - more likely - purgatory, depending on where he left them.) Do you have a second request, for a story in a series?
